Planning A Funeral

The pastor and staff at St. Joseph the Worker Parish offer our condolences and prayers to you and your family at this difficult time. The funeral rites of the Church are meant to comfort and console the sorrowing and commend the deceased to the mercy of God as we offer worship, praise, and thanksgiving to God for the gift of life and proclaim our faith in the Resurrection from the dead.  The information below is provided to assist you and your family in preparing the funeral rites that we will celebrate for your loved one who has returned to God.  The Pastor from St. Joseph the Worker Parish will be in touch to review the funeral liturgy with you and to give you the opportunity to share with him about the life of the deceased.

How to plan a funeral liturgy at St. Joseph the Worker Parish

  1. Request that the funeral home contact the Parish Office at 570-874-0610, to schedule the funeral. Once the funeral is scheduled, the funeral director will confirm the details to you.  It is very important that the family, Church, and funeral home communicate together; usually the funeral home takes the lead in this.

  2. Please review the readings below and complete the Funeral Planning Form at the bottom of this page.

  3. You will be contacted by the pastor shortly after your meeting with the  funeral director to review the details of the service.
